The purpose of the Home Inspection Arizona Specialized Short Course certificate program is to provide the opportunity for individuals who are seeking Arizona State certification as home inspectors to complete the required minimum of 80 coursework hours. The program provides the coursework and includes a final exam that evaluates the student’s knowledge of systems and standards in the home inspection field.

 Home Inspection Career Outlook

Employment of construction and building inspectors is projected to grow 8 percent from 2014 to 2024, about as fast as the average for all occupations. Public interest in safety and the desire to improve the quality of construction are factors that may continue to create demand for inspectors. Employment growth for inspectors is expected to be strongest in government and in firms specializing in architectural, engineering, and related services.

 

Career Opportunities

Certified construction and building inspectors who can perform a variety of inspections should have the best job opportunities. Inspectors with construction-related work experience or training in engineering, architecture, construction technology, or related fields are also likely to have better job prospects.

Earnings*

The median annual wage for construction and building inspectors was $57,340 in May 2015. The median wage is the wage at which half the workers in an occupation earned more than that amount and half earned less. The lowest 10 percent earned less than $34,800, and the highest 10 percent earned more than $91,600.
